KITAGAWA INDUSTRIES America’s EMI absorber materials can be life-saving solutions that can be applied when there is no time to do major redesigning of the board layout. These non-conductive materials that consist of metallic particles, ferrite material, and silicone gather magnetic field and convert EMI noise into negligible heat energy. They work effectively at various frequency ranges from the KHz and MHz range up to the higher GHz range. With non-conductive adhesive on one side, they can be easily applied directly over ICs, CPUs, graphic chips, and even cables without fear of short-circuiting. These flexible sheets come in a variety of different thicknesses to fit any application’s space restrictions.

These absorber sheets can also serve other uses. Coupling and cross talk are major problems in applications where many components have to share extremely limited space. Adding EMI absorbers can reduce these two problems while also adhering to space restrictions. Absorber sheets have also been used to increase the performance in RFID applications by correcting the magnetic field loop for RFID reader malfunctions at 13.56 MHz. This material gathers magnetic field to gain more signals in order to eliminate the need for wires. EMI Absorber Sheets (Narrow Band type)
Narrow band types absorbers (also known as Pinpoint types, microwave absorbers) attenuate 10-20 dB at one particular frequency. These are mainly designed for UHF (300MHz ~ 3GHz range) and SHF (3~30GHz) frequency range.
Dual Functioning EMC and Thermal Management
This type contains both EMC and thermal management functions. It works to reduce EMI noise as well as act as a thermal interface material (TIM) between the heat sink and the heat source. Attenuation is achieved in the same area where heat also needs to be regulated. This unique type can save space, cost, and time.
